I just got a perm so my dirty-blonde hair is now a wavy-straight. It's a little longer than my shoulders and sort of drab and even. No layers or anything. How should I style it by myself or should I just hire someone and pay a lot of money?

you can get a good haircut for $25. in most places in the US...(don't try to cut your own hair...please..)

dont cut it by yourself just get a professional to cut it, trust me you will scar yourself for life if you try to cut your hair by yourself. if you want to look ugly cut your hair but if you dont want to look ugly get a professional to cut your hair

i dont think you can style it by yourself. Maybe you should hire someone who would make your hair the way you want. But if you have experience in hair styling, i think you could do it on your own

No if u want to do it ur self you should do cut ur hair. but cut it by a peice by peice not at all at once cus then u'll ruin it and then u should get highlights, like pink :] its my fave color

Well, honestly, if you want it to look really good I'd go to a hairdresser.

Alternatively, I saw a tv program (and I tried it and it WORKED) where they cut the girls hair and said you can do it yourself. Make sure you have really good scissors though! You gather all your hair and comb and comb and comb in into a pony-tail bunch on the very middle and top of your head. Make sure it is really smooth and perfectly centered and all brushed up in there and the elastic is tied on really tight. I had to lie down on the bed with me head hanging over the edge to get it perfect.

Then you just do a perfect cut across the hair, as much as you want to cut off. When you let it out, it looks like one of those really cute rough cuts. I have naturally wavy hair and it worked fine - though I admit - the next time I went to the hairdressers she commented "who cut your hair last - it's not very good"!!!

Just take your mirror outdoors and put it on a table in your yard, get some aloe vera gel , wet hair down good.

Get comb, scissors and layer your hair like a bird, start at the top of head. It should come natural if u know what kind of hair doo u want.

I think u will do a better job than the stylist if u try.

I would go to hair masters as they are good and only cost 13.00 for a nice haircut.. If you cut your hair and mess it up you;ll have to wear a wig like our dear Brittney when she cut all her off.,., lol

And did you know you could shop around by phoning first and asking what they would charge you...

My kid brother needed a haircut and my mom gave him $10.00 to go to the salon. He went and asked them to just cut for two dollars' worth. Believe it or not, he came back home with a great haircut and $8.00 in his pocket. Most of all, we all had a great laugh and he became a great business man! it's never a great idea to cut your hair yourself. Call around and get prices a local salons. If you're determined though, reading above the one where they said to comb it up and cut at the top. That's called a square layerd haircut. Be careful not to go to short or you'll cut into the perimeter, but you could probably try that. Also, try point cutting, to not make it look so blunt. Blunt cut (straight across) the perimeter (however long you want it all around), then pull it up, letting the bottom below your occipital bone (the bone in the back of your head above you neck) fall down, point cut by cutting INTO the hair and not straight across (do it at an angle). Doing that will make it softer and disguise any mistakes better than blunt cutting. Make sure you comb it STRAIGHT UP. Be careful, and remember, you know your hair better than anyone else in the world.
