Sophisticated style for shorter hair?

Hi - I have a chin-length bob right now, with a little layering at the ends. We are going to an opera next week and I'd love suggestions for a sleek or elegant SIMPLE hairstyle that might work for me. Thanks very much!!

I think that the style of your hair now is awesome and wouldn't do anything to it.

I think this is an elegant look that will definitely turn heads at the opera.

I think your bob will be right at home at the opera. Just experiment with side parts to see which looks better for you. For example, try a side part and put the smaller portion or hair behind your ear, to show an awsome earring. Also, try products to see which gives you a really sleek, shiny hair.

Maybe you can try applying some moose at the roots and blow dry, to make your hair fuller at the crown and back of your hair

Bobs are great! I've used mine on and off for 10 years, and I always go back, no matter what different haircuts I try.

This is your basic half up half down hair, but with major volume on the crown of the head.

Part your hair at the ears and split the top half into two sections. Secure the bottom half with a clip so it doesnt mix in with the hair below the ears. Meanwhile tease underneath of the top section. Start with holding this section straight up and run a rat-tail comb from root to tips, moving the comb in a fast "up and down" motion. Until it looks like a messy rats nest..lol (make sure you only tease from underneath, so that the top will conceal it) Spray a volumizing freeze spray (Nick Chavez Super Lift Root Spray is excellent) into the roots of the part you teased. Smooth out any stray hairs but dont mess with it too much. Then gather up the bottom section you have clipped and secure with the top half which you have just teased into a pretty barrete. Finish by coaxing any of the visible tousled hair into place. Also..in the begininng when you part your hair..leave the hair that goes from your ears towards your face out. Then part this hair once the rest is in a barrette, and pull each side back and pin underneath the barrette or bottom half of hair. It will make the hairstyle more modern and trendy and not so grade-school.

I know it sounds confusing but it is really easy, and the style looks amazing with short hair. Just e-mail me if you would like better instruction.
